Weather Resistant Steel Plate( Weathering Steel Plate) is a kind of low alloy series steel falling in between common steel and stainless steel. Weathering steel plate is made by adding little Cu, Ni and other anti- corrosion elements to common steel, which make this kind steel be with better toughness, forming property, weldability and cutting, anti- fatigue ability, etc. Weathering steel plate’s weather ability is common Carbon Steel Plate’s twice to 8 times, coating performance is common carbon steel plate’s 1.5 to 10 times. Meanwhile, weather resistant steel plate owns anti- rusty ability, which can expand the service life for steels.
Weathering steel exhibit a good resistance to corrosion than ordinary steel, it has smallest alloy elements not like stainless steel and its price is more cheaper than stainless.Weathering Steel can be exposed to the atmosphere without painting. It begins to rust in the same way as ordinary steel. But soon the alloying elements in it cause a protective surface layer of fine-textured rust to form, thereby suppressing corrosion rate.In this way. The weathering steel helps to reduce lifecycle costs and environment burdens in a wide range of applications.
The steel is used for various types of welded, bolted and riveted constructions e.g. steel frame structures, bridges, tanks and containers, exhaust systems, vehicles and equipment constructions.
